Email is good.

A blog ostensibly about email productivity by Chris Coyier who you can email, obviously, at chris@coyier.com

Great advice from Justin Jackson:

When you’re about to launch something new, your first step shouldn’t be buying ads, optimizing for SEO, or posting on social media.

One of the highest-leverage marketing activities you can do is this: write a personal email to anybody in your network who might care.

A hundred feels right. That’s a lot, right? It should be a lot. Telling people about your new thing, if you’re building a new thing, is just as important as actually building it. If you aren’t ready to do the hard work of telling people about it, you might as well not even do it.

Justin has a template and basic spreadsheet-based CRM and such, which I would also probably do. Keep it simple, don’t get lost in the tools.
