Email is good.

A blog ostensibly about email productivity by Chris Coyier who you can email, obviously, at chris@coyier.com

Slide 2

Totally get it, it’s annoying. It’s funny to make fun of. Everybody experiences it. I friggin love Nathan Pyle but as a guy with an email blog I feel like this is the “how bout that airline food?” of jokes.

And now I shall be Captain Boring and point out the correct flow, for someone who manages their email well:

  1. Check/uncheck anything during checkout that allows them to continue emailing you. They might do it anyway, but it’s worth taking a second during checkout to just stop the problem before it starts.
  2. Hit the unsubscribe button on the first email you get. This will probably do the trick to stop the train of emails right there. It’s illegal if it doesn’t, not that that is much recourse.
  3. Hit the spam button on the next one.
  4. If they keep coming, take a second to add a filter to auto-trash them.

Yeah it’s a little work, but if you always do it, the reward is a clean easily managable inbox.
