I’m no fan of sending fake-personalized email messages.
But color me surprised that Gmail has this feature right in their standard email writing interface. You do have to have a Workplace, Business, or Enterprise account though.
You just click this thing in the To: area.

Then you can use these:
- @firstname
- @lastname
- @fullname
That’s it though. Pretty basic.
But you can attach it to a spreadsheet, then the tags you can use are based on the columns of the spreadsheet, so a bit more powerful.
Their docs are pretty straightforward, including some limitations and caveats like how it can use a ton of storage space.
