Email is good.

A blog ostensibly about email productivity by Chris Coyier who you can email, obviously, at chris@coyier.com

I’m no fan of sending fake-personalized email messages.

But color me surprised that Gmail has this feature right in their standard email writing interface. You do have to have a Workplace, Business, or Enterprise account though.

You just click this thing in the To: area.

Then you can use these:

  • @firstname
  • @lastname
  • @fullname
  • @email

That’s it though. Pretty basic.

But you can attach it to a spreadsheet, then the tags you can use are based on the columns of the spreadsheet, so a bit more powerful.

Their docs are pretty straightforward, including some limitations and caveats like how it can use a ton of storage space.

There’s also a bunch of layouts plus you can paste in your email standards compliant html and it looks pretty powerful
